Thread: Installing Ubuntu 12.04.1 over Windows 7

hi, guys. got new sony vaio s-series laptop windows 7 (64 bit) , want erase windows , install ubuntu 12.04.1.
have created cd disk ubunutu iso image. not want boot it. checked bios , settings seem ok (with internal cd drive primary booting). can advice, guys? can create cd, though 1 have created (with infrarecorder) without problems.
, have question (once figure out booting issue) - see in bios boot either uefi or legacy. give me problems when start installing ubunutu on windows 7?

hi,
cds/dvds quite sensitive , when data burned on.
if want make cd, sure burned in lower speed.

suggest create bootable usb . imo more accurate.
use program within windows : http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/
if scroll down see installation examples. easy.

you have done mentioned this.(with uefi). although don't think have problem (cuz delete windows) if have , try use automate tool : https://help.ubuntu.com/community/boot-repair (from live session) repair grub.
in position turn bios legacy.
