transition with frozen frames?

i'm using "dip black" transition, don't want dim existing frames of either clip.  no frames trimmed, either.  since default transition 1 second, i'd freeze last frame of first clip half second , first frame of second clip half second, apply one-second transition on that.

 

i think i've done before, can't remember or find it.  i've played transition properties , looked ways extend clips themselves, no luck.

i create freeze frame of last frame clip a, , first frame clip b, , set durations 15 frames (0.5 sec. ntsc), apply transition between them.

 

the creation of freeze frame can differ bit, depending on version of pre, using.

 

good luck, , let know version, can give specific instructions, if needed.
