Thread: Erlang Install
i using ubunut precise (12.04 lts) in vmware (for months)
had erlang r14b04 installed.
used commands (below) install r15b
went fine, when run erl @ command prompt, r14b04 shell
cannot locate activate command (listed on post)
how set erl new r15 version ?
commands used were:
apt-get -y install build-essential m4 libncurses5-dev libssh-dev unixodbc-dev libgmp3-dev libwxgtk2.8-dev libglu1-mesa-dev fop xsltproc default-jdk
mkdir -p /src/erlang
cd /src/erlang
wget http://www.erlang.org/download/otp_src_r15b.tar.gz
tar -xvzf otp_src_r15b.tar.gz
chmod -r 777 otp_src_r15b
cd otp_src_r15b
./configure
make
make install
note: used sudo appropriate , got no install errors!!
a simple solution add erlang path path variable in ~/.bashrc file. this:
1. edit ~/.bashrc text editor (vim or other)
2. add these lines (change path real erlang path)code:vim ~/.bashrc
3. save , quitcode:erlang_home=/path/to/erlang15b export path=$path:$erlang_home/bin
4. load ~/.bashrc
5. try erl commandcode:source ~/.bashrc
another solution install erlang 15b via ppa repository, one: https://launchpad.net/~scattino/+archive/ppacode:erl
