Thread: Unable to change permissions

using 12.04 gnome no effects

on dual boot laptop, have windows ntfs partition visible , usable "acer". of data resides there. no problems.

now, i'd share "acer" on home network. it's visible on other pc's, not accessible, permissions partition drwx------

tried gui change permissions - no luck. tried command line, both owner, , su, this:

gunter5253@aspire-5253:/media$ sudo chmod g+rwx acer

(no error messages)

still no luck:

gunter5253@aspire-5253:/media$ ls -ld acer
drwx------ 1 gunter5253 gunter5253 8192 nov 18 14:45 acer

missing? appreciated.

ntfs doesn't support unix permissions permissions being set whatever system sharing on network.

how sharing on network? samba, nfs? need set permissions example if using nfs need make sure the export rw , clients mount nfs read write.
