AE Crash invoking Curves

in seemingly random comps ae crash , it'll give me error telling me crashed invoking curves plugin.  i'm applying multiple adjustment layers different effects finesse, curves, unsharp mask, etc. when happens.  can bypass rendering out footage 1 of adjustment layers turned on re-importing that.  turning on adjustment layer, rendering out, re-importing, etc. until have of adjustment layers active.  footage avchd, crashes prores footage.

 

i'm on cs6 (fully updated) on macbook pro: i7 2.7ghz, 16gb ram, nvidia geforce gt 650m, ssd.

 

thoughts?

why need use adjustment layers?  sounds fishy. 

 

unless want apply effect visible layers below in comp, adjustment layer largely unnecessary: apply effects layer itself.

 

and don't need 1 effect per adjustment layer.  complicates things.

Error 400 - Photoshop services are not available

After Effects error:creating resource file on Windows
