Thread: Symbolic Link Error with USB Stick

i used able make link on usb stick , move ubuntu 12.04 desktop. formatted stick in windows xp, used fat32 , re-installed files onto stick. when booted ubuntu not make links on stick. went win xp, formatted (fat) , still same error when try make link (for .txt doc) on usb stick :

error while creating link doc.txt

target doesn't support symbolic links

you cannot create symbolic links on fat filesystems, , don't think can on ntfs either. *nix filesystems support symbolic links - ext*, xfs, jfs, btrfs etc. in general, windows can't read *nix filesystems, not because they're secret because ms doesn't interoperability.
