Thread: SSH login makes my drive spin up

hi,

have ubuntu server installed on ssd disk 1 classic rotating magnetic disk attached. configured hdparm on every boot spin down after few hours of idle time. also, there folders shared on smb , ftp on magnetic drive. it's working flawlessly, every time access server using smb or ftp spins , after time spin down again.
when login through ssh, spins magnetic drive. that's wrong. there no system files located on drive (not home directory of course) neither drive referred in login script. can me please?

not sure, 1 theory update-motd doing accesses disk. update-motd runs on every ssh or terminal login update system status info see when log in. maybe check out scripts in /etc/update-motd.d , see if of them doing might require files on disk.
