how make adobe reader preferred program on acrobat downloading pdf files on mac?

there 2 ways accomplish :

 

method 1:

- launch acrobat / reader on mac,

- click on acrobat / reader @ top , goto 'preferences'

- on 'preferences' window @ left hand column, select 'general' , on right hand side @ bottom see button 'select default pdf handler'

- select 'reader' default in dropdown list , click on 'ok'

 

method 2 :

-  single click pdf file wish open or pdf file in general while holding control key. select 'get info' menu you've opened or

right click on pdf file , go 'get info' option.

- under heading 'open with,' current default application opening pdf's listed. if there no application listed may need click triangle left of 'open with' points downward reveal current setting.

- click on application listed open menu displaying additional applications. in menu locate  adobe reader 11.

- if reader not listed select 'other' bottom of menu.

- navigate through applications folder locate icon adobe reader application , click highlight it. click add button select reader.

- in information window click 'change all' button subsequent pdf files opened adobe reader 11.

- click continue button confirm you'd change settings. pdf files opened adobe reader 11.
