Thread: conky cant get wifi essid and other info

conky can't wireless essid due wl kernel module , neither normal user account. if did

code:

sudo iwconfig wlan0

fine, , if ran conky root fine, don't want that.

solution here more this link followed, , worked great. awhile.. doesn't work anymore , i'm not sure why.

worked user acount. if run iwconfig see wireless info. if run

code:

${exec iwconfig wlan0}

conky spits out wireless info, including ssid. using conky's built in

code:

${wireless_essid wlan0}

returns nothing essid , 'not-associated' ap mac.

i've tried can, including

code:

sudo chmod u+s /sbin/iwconfig

(which worked before, fails work conky)

edit: should clarify edited udev rule rename eth1 wlan0, eth1 standard interface name comes wl driver.
