Thread: how can I install older C++ compiler (gcc-4.1.2 or gcc-4.2.1) on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS ?

i have run application based on geant4 simulation (from geant4.cern.ch). application created using older version of geant4 (version 9.2) requires linux have c++ compiler in old version. , suitable versions gcc-4.1.2 , gcc-4.2.1. @ moment have ubuntu 12.04 lts , has gcc 4.6 or something. how can install older version of gcc ? or should install older ubuntu (say 10.04 lts ?)?

technically uninstall gcc-4.6.x , download deb gcc-4.2.1 should compile fine under 4.6.x - may have test out. using build script or running gcc on main.c file?
