new to AE. Is it right to say AE isn't editing software but compositing software?

-

i confused ae, expecting work vegas or final cut, right it's compositing software nuke?

yes.

after effects compositor , motion graphics application, not nle. premiere pro adobe nle.

start here learn after effects:

i'd recommend against comparing after effects nuke, though. nuke compositor single shots , little else. @ 1 thing, narrowly focused. after effects broader application, with---as said above---motion graphics capabilities, et cetera.
