hello ubuntu users. i'd introduce myself. i'm da, shorthand digital arcanist. work in information/network security, , have been cross-platform linux user , enthusiast number of years. came here security forums announce new tool/script have developed called "autosnort".

name implies, script related open-source snort software. not know snort is, snort powerful rule-driven network intrusion detection , prevention system -- put simply, inspects network traffic, , lets know if spots unusual on wire extensive set of rules provided sourcefire vrt (the creators , maintainers of snort) among other rule writing sources.

autosnort script automates , makes intense , complicated exercise in updating snort latest available version effortless running shell script , responding few prompts.

in linux universe, i'm releasing script free - entirely open-source , under mit license, meaning can practically want it.
