Thread: Install of game and/or DirectX through Steam messed up resoluton

i'm bit long-winded see bottom quick version , specs.

friendly hello:
hello @ ubuntu forums, built own computer , decided switch ubuntu coolness. i've been learning lot through this, , been trying figure out issues on own (read: google searches). however, couldn't seem find others problem i've come here help.

detailed recount:
used wine , winetricks install steam. went , worked. went trying game out. remembered orcs must die! worked http://www.steamgamesonlinux.com/ tried out. after selecting download it, that's when problem occurred. screen zoomed in!!! i think it's resolution right? half screen cut off , can't see parts of right side of windows. theory due direct x being installed through steam, steam automatically installed chose download game. didn't ask me install direct x or not ): happened fast. being said, game works fine! looks little strange, if resolution off, played fine.

did far:
restarted computer. didn't work -_- researched steam installing directx on ubuntu messing resolution , couldn't find anything. researched uninstalling directx ubuntu found uninstalling directx after having been installed wine, not through steam. got mad , ate feelings.

quick version:
steam installed wine , winetricks. steam downloaded , installed game + directx. resolution messed (i think; pretty sure), can't fix it, annoying, halp!

specs:
ubuntu version 12.04
wine version 1.4.1
have not changed settings in wine
using winetricks

drivers: proprietary (installing lot of fun)

did more searching , found command called xrandr
tried "xrandr -s 0" didn't anything.
ran xrandr alone , terminal showed this:

let known have dvi vga cord running graphics card monitor.

i've read elsewhere on forum uninstall directx should delete .wine folder? hope doesn’t come if does, have uninstall well?
