Acrobat Pro/Standard X and XI very slow (scrolling/searching/markup) over VPN using CIFS server shar

i hope has explanation , fix following issue have: moved our file service hosted server, centos server running samba/cifs share our windows 7 pro, acrobat pro x , xi clients. there certificate based openvpn client running on workstations , share mapped network drive. moved work files (mostly pdfs) new server , problem when users open pdfs seem "streaming" , not loading - meaning every time users start scrolling through document, painstakingly slow. takes second or 2 program react mouse scroll (or same thing when searching) , if scroll stops , waits 5 seconds or more. seems acrobat not loading whole file when opened, rather loads piece-by-piece , very slowly. pdf sizes range under 1mb 60mb... avergage around 7mb. same thing happens xi reader , tried older copy of 8.0 pro. internet connection, may suspect problem, fast dedicated line.
and gets tricky tested same thing pdf program , faster. there has kind of setting in acrobat make quick well. or if server feature needs fixed/set, that's not problem either - need know server , share setup acrobat prefers.
i've searched lot, can't seem find related issues or problems similar server/client setup. hard imagine unique though. i've tried settings within acrobat (the ones find slow scrolling), didn't help.
