Expression assistance.

hi,

 

i wondering if me out expression (i thinking expression easiest). trying achieve following:

 

i have hud 6 circles in it. have set of 6 characters want display in hud, 1 in each circle. want characters randomly change betweem (within each circle)

 

1) have created comp base hud

2) have created second comp contain base characters (i have base hud in comp adjustment layer line things up)

3) comp woth base characters has 6 pre-comps, each containing 6 characters on same spot (to allow them randomly appear on , off)

 

am complicating much?

 

 

above simple depiction of trying achieve - each number randomly change between value of 1-6. in current comp, each number in own pre-comp, contains 6 numbers (i thought easier have them in each pre-comp "base" , apply expression @ level randomly chage them).

 

i hoping makes sense, year delve murky , bottomless depth of after effects , text!

you use simple time-remapping expression:

 

cseed=thiscomp.layer("xyz")("slider");

 

seedrandom(index+cseed,true);

 

crand=math.round(random(1,6));

cval=framestotime(crand);

 

[cval]

 

that's assuming each of characters 1 frame. change seed slider value different distributions , animate it.
