Thread: Installing Win 8. Any Dual-boot Recommendations?

okay. have windows 7 installed , ubuntu 12.04. install windows 8. plan right make bootable installation of windows 8, plug in, boot computer, , let it's thing. know nothing when comes partitioning windows i'm hoping given option wipe hard drive , clean install of windows 8. have come terms losing current 12.04 installation , having re-install or 12.10. have backed data need ubuntu on external hdd , can restore later. wondering if there recommendations here before proceed planned process. have come across os-uninstaller. know there can problems deleting windows ntfs partitions due them being marked secure? (i wrong here in wording). wondering if best way go use os-uninstaller uninstall windows 7, , use bootable windows 8 usb install such os. after that's done, re-install ubuntu. guess there 2 options there. first option of popping in usb , hoping wipe hard drive , partition needs be, or second using os-uninstaller delete windows 7 , continuing installation. question is, care input, way should go, first or second? , if there missing in 1 of processes please let me know. don't have new fancy uefi, computer old, custom build desktop friend of dad small 1tb hard drive, 4gb ram, amd sempron 2500+ processor. have never had problem installation/partitioning of os'es on desktop, windows has been installed on here. unfamiliar installation of windows. here appreciated. thank much.

(ps have live media of boot-repair, gparted, ubuntu 12.10, , whole bunch of other os's if helps)

if plan delete win7 after installing win8, recommend delete win7 before installing win8 (else, win8 mix boot files win7).

if want more advise, please run boot-repair --> create bootinfo , indicate url appear.
