relevant info: ubuntu 12.04 x64 ati radeon hd 4290 video card using proprietary flgrx driver problem: have computer i'm using media , web server. it's connected tv using hdmi, access using vnc on ssh. better readability both on vnc , when using tv monitor, set display resolution 720p instead of tv's preferred max of 1080p. after recent updates, display resolution automatically changed 1080p while connected using vnc. used catalyst control center (using gksudo) change resolution 720p, after while changed 1080p again. considered might vnc issue, happens while using tv monitor well. there quite few posts in forums people have reported similar problems, of seem involve resolution resetting after reboot or when waking suspend, while mine changes while i'm using computer . haven't noticed pattern when resolution resets itself; might reset after 5 minutes or 5 hours, , doesn't seem caused i'm doing television. if same pr...
